It's so nice for me to have found this blog of yours, it's so interesting. I sure hope and wish that you take courage enough to pay me a visit in my PALAVROSSAVRVS REX!, and plus get some surprise. Sebagai fakta sampingan, terma Cina itu kadangkala memiliki konotasi negatif sebagai perkataan yang menghina, di negara Indonesia istilah Tionghoa lebih meluas digunakan.
yeah pretty sad really. They called us cina, and see us as "different". But, we 'tionghua' did not do any better either. I think both should take off the veil of ethnocentrism, pride, and jealousy but embrace one another and start building trust agen. Interesting post aye...

well, this is indonesia, not china. so it has nothing to do with "Indonesia menghina orang China,kerana asal terbitnya perkataan cina dari perkataan 'China'..." coz the word "cina" here refers to chinese indonesians, not China as in a country. come on. u should have known better.
if an indonesia born chinese is called "cina" in indonesia, it is considered an insult, mainly. it depends on how you say it. most native indonesians use the word "cina" to express anger, annoyance, belittlement, hatred, and there goes the list. a more polite word is "tionghoa".
i agree with the writer, if the word "cina" has the same meaning as "madura, jawa, ambon, manado, etc" then no one would consider it an insult. for instance, when my friends referred me as "cina", i wouldnt feel insulted, because i know its just an adjective.
but when i walk on streets and there are a bunch of native indonesians pointing at me and shout "dasar cina!" i would take it as an insult. and it happens a lot of time. and even sadder, the chinese people in indonesia too dont act better than rude indonesians.
why cant we all live together as indonesians, without seeing where we came from? we should lose the "chinese indonesian" and live happily as just "indonesians".
